Back to the DP World Tour for the British PGA Championship.   This is a Rolex Series Event.  A designated Premium Event for the European Tour which means a bigger purse and more world ranking points.   Last year Alex took home  nearly €1.5 million for his weekend’s work.  The list of previous champions is distinguished and should bring out Europe’s best.

First contested as the British PGA in 1955 and the first champion was Ken Bousfield.  A fixture in British golf after WWII, he was a seven time Ryder Cup participant, including that rare victory for GB & I in 1957.  Ken went 2-0-0, winning his foursomes match and defeating Lionel Herbert in singles 4&3.

FUN FACT:  This event has had only three champions from the U.S.  Arnold and  . . . Billy Horschel – twice.
