This week is the Solheim Cup . . . we know the history and the format . . . so all that is left is to settle in for that first tee shot on Friday.
The Europeans have four rookies while the USA has two. The European team has a total of 23 cups between them . . . while the Yanks have 24. Most of the experience for Europe is with Charley Hull and Carlota Ciganda, for whom this is their eighth Cup. The Americans experience is more spread out with Nelly and Megan Khang making their fifth appearance. The Euros have a decided advantage with more players ranked higher in OWGR.
FUN FACT: For most of the event’s history, to be on the U.S. team you had to be a native born citizen . . . immigrants need not apply. Beginning in 2015 the qualifications were relaxed quite a bit. Everyone on this year’s team was born in the U.S. . . . but it’s nice to know they didn’t have to be.
This Week is a Pick Six . . . At Least Two from each Team
