This week we take a break from Majors and Premium Events.  This tournament has been on the schedule since 1971, where Deane Beman won the ‘Quad Cities Open’ and took home $5000.  The entire purse was $25,000.  . . .  Ah, the good old days.

FUN FACT:  In 2013 Jordan Spieth was 19 years old when he won here.  He was the first teenager to win on the PGA tour since 1931.  Without looking it up, who was that 18 year old.  Need some hints?  He won the 1931 Michigan Open.   He was the individual NCAA champion in 1936 and was part of two NCAA team championships.  He played in three Walker Cups.  He was the low amateur at the Masters and twice low amateur at the U.S. Open.   He was a three time US National Open Senior Champion.  His nickname was the ‘Silent King’  . . . and I had to look him up.
