This week we follow up the Master’s with a signature event in South Carolina.  Where the winner gets an ugly plaid jacket . . . which I am guessing,  unlike the Masters . . .  no one cares where or when you wear it.  The winner also gets $3.6 million . . . so probably not a lot of complaints about the coat.

Besides being a signature event it is one of five invitational tournaments on tour, which means it will have a reduced starting field and more leeway in who gets to play.  On the schedule since 1969 where Arnie was the first champion and took home a $20,000 winner’s check.   I guess the jackets came later.

FUN FACT:  In 2010, Jim Furyk beat British golfer Brian Davis on the first hole of a sudden death playoff when Davis called a two shot penalty on himself for touching a loose impediment in a hazard with his club.
