First played in 1946, as the Houston Open, won by Texas native Byron Nelson who took home $2000 . . . While Min Woo took home $1.6 million last year.   We are still in that lull between the Premium Events and the Masters.   Still there are some big names in the field this week, so we can all swarm them in unison.

FUN FACT:  In 2020, COVID forced the tournament to move to November.  Won by Carlos Ortiz, tied for second were Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama.  The next week was that rare autumn version of the Masters where Dustin was champion.  Six months later Hideki put on the green jacket.
