This is a limited field, no cut event. First played in 2006, where Han Hee-won was the Champion and earned $195,000. Not familiar? She was the 2001 LPGA Rookie of the Year and this was the last of her six tour victories.
The LPGA is overseas for the next three weeks, then taking a week off before playing in California. Angel’s check was $60,000 more than the first winner received in 2006 . . . over 18 years that doesn’t seem like much of a raise. 10th place money last year was $30k and last place money was $3465 (remember – no cut). You have to think about how much it costs to travel to these events . . . and wonder . . . how the women finishing in the bottom half every week manage it.
FUN FACT: This was the first ever LPGA event to be held in Thailand . . . Yeah . . . I got nothing
