First played in 2001 as the Dunhill Links Championship, Paul Lawrie beat Ernie Els by one shot. This is a big money event on the DP Tour and will attract a strong field. But then again the Euros may still be hungover.
This tournament is patterned after the Pebble Beach Pro-Am . . . the Pros partner with celebrities and play each of the three courses over the first three days. Then there is a 54-hole cut and the top 60 pros and the leading 20 pro-am teams . . . even if the pro is outside the top 60. Then they head to St Andrews for the final round.
