In the TH We Didn’t Do the Truist So . . .
This week we travel to Pennsylvania for the Truist . . . which used to be the Wells Fargo . . . which was held in North Carolina for years . . . it is a Signature Event . . . which means big money and a limited field . . . and is at a Cricket Club . . . who the hell knew we had any of those in the U.S.?
First held in 2003, David Toms was the winner of the “Wachovia Championship”, he earned over a million dollars for being first.
The first year for Truist as a sponsor and also the first time for the Philadelphia Cricket Club. The Wissahickon Course, built in 1920, is an A. W. Tillinghast design and ranked among the top 100 courses in the U.S. There have been big tournaments at this course on the senior circuit and amateur level, this is a first for the PGA Tour. The PGA Championship is at Quail Hollow this year which is the reason for the switch. Probably not much experience in the field on this layout . . . choose carefully.
FUN FACT: Founded in 1854, the Philadelphia Cricket Club is the oldest Country Club in the United States.
