This week we are in Texas for the Byron Nelson.  This event’s roots go back to 1944 and the Texas Victory Open, which was won by . . . wait for it . . . Byron Nelson.  It has had other names over the years but since 1968 it has featured Lord Byron’s name.

This tournament traditionally attracted strong fields with past champions including, Jack, Tom, Tiger, Ernie, Freddy, Lanny etc.  However in the new era of golf it is positioned the week before the Wells Fargo, which is a premium event, and two weeks before the PGA . . . so we’ll see how the field fills out.

FUN FACT:  In 2005 at this event, Tiger missed the cut, ending his streak at 142.
