This week we go to Singapore for the HSBC, and how appropriate our host is the defending TH champion. (and won again last just last week) Once again this is a limited field, no cut event. In fact the field this week is going to give everyone déjà vu.

This event has been on the schedule since 2008 when Lorena Ochoa was the champion. Not only is Jin Young Ko a two time defending champion, the last four winners have come from South Korea. The last non-Korean winner was Michelle Wie in 2018.

In 2008 Lorena took home $300k out of a $2 Million purse. The purse stayed the same in 2009 but dropped to ‘just’ $1.3 million when Ai Miyazato won in 2010. The purse still has not rebounded, and this year will be $1.8 million.
FUN FACT: Ai Miyazato was the first golfer to be ranked number one in the world without ever winning a major.
